Toyota Culture to attract people
Toyota Motor Corporation is a Japanese Multinational
Automotive manufacturer headquartered in Japan. Toyota corporation is having
more than 364,000 employees worldwide. Its main business is motor vehicle
production and it’s a diversified some other business of housing, financial
service, marine, Biotechnology, foresting, e-Toyota business and it is the
sixth-largest company in the world in September 2018 (Wikipedia, 2019).
As the largest employee organization in the world, Toyota is
practicing the world's best and innovative human resource management. Toyota has a
special culture and on its culture, there is a Human system runs. This human
system is called People Value Stream

Toyota corporation’s Human Resource Management drives around
the four stages of the process,
- Attract – Recruitment, Selection, Initial orientation
- Develop – Roles, Training/Coaching
- Engage – Follow Standards, Improve Standards, Problem Solving, Identity with team
- Inspire – Embrace Toyota Values, Community/Family Environment, Identify with the company (Liker, et al, 2008)
Toyota believes that people dive the business and they
believe Values and perspectives of the people are very important for the
development of the human resource. Toyota hiring people to fill the positions, but
it is a challenging one in this highly competitive business environment.
Recruitment and Selection of people to the organization is the crucial factor because effective use of human will increase the productivity
of the organization and selecting the wrong people will create more operational
problems.
Recruitment is the process of find and engages people with the
organization's needs. Selection is a part of this process by deciding which
applicant should be appointed to which job. And the other thing is recruitment
can be costly (Armstrong, 2014).
How Toyota Attract
Toyota’s human resource policy is in house grooming,
which means employees should grow within the company, but Toyota recruit many trainees
to grow with the company (Liker, et al, 2008)
- Career Exhibitions – facilitate students of the universities
- Advertisement – social media, Newspapers, magazines
- Orientation, Applications, and Testing – attend Job preview, completes an application form, aptitude test, Job fit inventory, screening decision
- Assessment center exercise – Basic team skills, production skills
- Final screening – employment history check, structured interview
- Health assessment – physical examination
- Probation period – on the job testing
- Final screening decision for full employment
How Toyota Select
The aim of the selecting is to check the suitability of the
candidate predicting they can carry out the role successfully (Armstrong, 2014). Toyota selecting a diverse workforce as a
strategic selection, where the candidate will be treated equally according to the
gender, age, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, race, religion,
ethnic or nationality. Selection is checking for the main two areas,
- Person- Job -fit - person’s Knowledge, Skills
- Person – Organization – fit - Person’s values and culture
Further, the selecting process divided into another 4 main
areas
- Information about the candidate – application forms, biographical information, honesty and integrity test, medical and drug test, polygraph test
- Employment test – an aptitude test, an achievement test
- Employment interview – personal interview, video and digitally record interview
- Reaching a selecting decision – use summary forms, reports, checklist to accept or reject candidates
- Toyota uses a funnel model to selecting candidates which is many prospects lead to few hires.

Conclusion
Toyota has a culture which will help systematic way to attract
people to its organization, in the Toyota way, the attraction, selection and the orientation of quality team member to the position of president level has a critical
path in the people value stream. Toyota's way values of mutual respect and trust,
continuous improvement in a systematic way. Please check on this video to
