I’m Achala Meegama and I’m work with MAS holdings since 2002.  Currently I’m working as an Assistant manager, Lab and Inspection department. In my capacity, I’m responsible for the total manufacturing product’s quality and it’s accessories quality. I have 17 years of experience in MAS Holdings and I worked in Production department, Cutting department as well as in Lab department too. MAS Holdings is one of the popular company in Sri Lanka, we have more than 30 companies all over the world. We manufacture the world class ladies brief called “Victoria’s Secret” for USA and “NIKE” as a sports wear.  And MAS Holdings is one of the biggest garment manufacturer in Sri Lanka, where we have more than 90,000 associates around the world and manufacture millions of products within a day.

Globalization in garment manufacturing industry is so evident. It can be seen through the fashion industry, where all over the world people relate to the fashion industry and this fashion industry run by the garment manufacturing industry. This industry is always change to the rapid demand of the people needs. If not, this industry won’t survive. For this purpose, the Textile manufacturing industry is mainly connected with it and to compete the market demand the Textile manufacturing industry also going for cheap labor, sweat shop concept which are making the people third world countries. China has come out as a major supplier as the biggest textile supplier and the cheapest supplier.  (Robert Antoshak, 2019) With the globalization there has another problem and that is this industry faces a new challenge. It is the demand for product can change at any moment

According to my job capacity, the globalization effect has come up with following ways. We were getting poor quality materials instead of required standard once. This is mainly due to using poor raw materials for Fabric manufacturing as well as Lace and Elastic manufacturing. We were getting some defects materials for garments manufacturing due to poor quality raw materials due to reduction of members from the manufacturing plants due to eliminating the quality processes which were incurring high cost of manufacturing.
